New Shock challenge

Postby Wulf 359 » Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:08 pm

Throwing this idea out there.

DCR 2 Stability car design. Who can get the best with these restrictions. Stability will be judged by the car not bouncing around like a jumping bean, but also throughout the course being raced. If you test a design, please say which track you used, page and track number. To keep it standard, please only use normal mode for tests.

Any shock used must be the New Angle Shock ONLY (since it is a shock challenge, it MUST have at least 1)
No angle locks allowed.
No flight equipment (means no turbines or wings).
Max two engines, can have only 1 engine.
Must have only 2 wheels, both do not need to be driven. Any radius allowed, can be different for each wheel.
Frame pieces must be 1st length level only. This includes engine frame pieces.

Try to keep it as cheap as possible (jeremy :P ) so that more people can test them out for themselves to judge without having a huge bank account.

Gotta say, while I am probably biased on a certain car, think daniel's first entry is a little more stable than mine. Not limited to 1 entry per person btw.

I'm rather impressed by both cars. I hated the angle shock until now. It was always way too bouncy every design I could come up with. I'll have to play with designs using it at the angles you guys did vs the way I've been trying to use it.

Yeah, they got way better after they were able to be upgraded. I think it's cool how they work the same bending either way.

This was a huge reason for the challenge, because I have noticed how ridiculously bouncy they can be if not used just right. My first car idea, I had to beef up the front because I keep hitting hard landings and folding the car almost in half. To me, that equals not very stable.

Wulf, I redid your design a little. Try 707.

My original design was very close to that before I posted it, but the damn thing kept folding up on me. And of course, didn't save it (just checked). It works good though.
