Starting out

Postby Wulf 359 » Wed Jan 14, 2015 5:09 am

I am basing this on the free version of DCR2, as I do not have the full version yet. Hopefully most if not all things will be the same. As you progress through the levels, it might take multiple tries to achieve all of the tasks laid out for each section, and not all will be possible with the car you have available first starting out. Just keep at it, and you will get there.

The levels on page 2, I think at level 13, are not available with the free version.

Edit: I have since bought the full version, and remainder of guides will be used from that view.

Have fun, and good luck.

As you progress through the game, you will have the occasion to design more and more cars, load car designs that others have made, and even unlock car designs that came with the game. Before changing the design, you might want to be able to keep a certain design and pull it up later, as there may be some designs that work better on different tracks.

To do this from the car design screen (screen shot posted below), click the blue floppy disk icon (#3) next to the file folder icon (#4)(which is used to load some car designs). You then have four choices.
Save Picture - This saves a picture of the current design (#1) to your local computer. What this picture will look like is included after the screen shot. Your design will obviously be of your car.
Save to Server - This will save the design to the server. With this option, you also have the choice of publishing your design, and letting other players rate your car. When saving a design in this manner, the game will show a mini window with a car ID number. If you wish to point people to a certain design in your forum posts, use this number.
Save to File - This saves the current DCR 2 design to your local computer. If you play from multiple computers, this might not be the best choice for you.
Cancel - Does what you would think, cancels this operation, and returns you to the previous screen
To load cars, you have two options on how to do this. One is the file folder icon (#4) next to the blue disk icon (#3). When you click this (#4), more options come up.
Browse Car - Opens another window with the published cars shown, with a block containing the thumbnail of the design, the current rating (in stars), and at the bottom, the poster of that vehicle design, and the minimum and full price.
ID and Load by ID - This would be where you would enter the car ID number, then click the Load by ID button.
Load from Server - This pulls up a list of your car designs, 3 to a page. You can click ID to get the car ID for that particular design, or delete designs posted to the server you no longer want to keep. You can also open the same window as the Browse Car button does from here by clicking the button labeled "See cars other people have made".
Load from File - Allows you to load a car design saved to your local computer.
    Cancel - Same as above.

As you complete the levels, some of them have a task among the list that will unlock a certain car design. That car can then be loaded in the car design area, and you can use it as is, or modify it a little or a lot. To load the unlocked cars, click the Car Select bar (#2). When you do this, you are prompted to remember to save your car design. If you choose to save from here, local file saving is the only choice.

As you can see, you can change the basic look of various pieces of the car, including the driver. If this is something you would be interested in trying, please see the basic guide at viewtopic.php?f=20&t=370 first.
